CHURCH NEWS May 18 , 2008

The Manfisher Meal being served today at 1:30 by our church.

HONORING THE REV. PAUL AND MARY ASHBROOK-
Paul and Mary will be moving to Ohio the first week of June.  We’ve invited Paul to preach next Sunday, May 25th, and then following the service we will have a special Coffee Fellowship time to  honor them and their ministry  in our church.  There will be a basket there for cards.

Time Change: Next Sunday, May 25th our Summer Schedule will start.  Sunday School and Worship Service will both be at 9:30.  This will continue through Labor Day Weekend, August 31st. Children, K-4th grade, will stay in worship during praise songs until prompted to go down to Sunday School.

Next Sunday, May 25th, there will be an Arts and Crafts Show in the Fellowship Hall put on by Body Life.  Come and see the talented individuals we have in our congregation.  It is not too late.  You can still bring your crafts and goods to the church on Saturday, May 24th to have them displayed.  Call Phyllis at the church, 826-1290, if you are interested.

Reminder to parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles, graduation is just around the corner.  If you want to give us some information regarding your graduate it would be greatly appreciated.  We will try to gather information this month and have an article celebrating both high school and college graduates in the June newsletter. If you know of someone connected to our church that you would like to include please contact Phyllis and provide information about them.   Please write down a brief description of their accomplishments, what their degree is (for college graduates), and what they plan on doing after graduation.
Pastor Ken will be away Tuesday- Wednesday of this week taking 2 vacation days.

Mathematician, Blaise Pascal hesitated to pray for relief, much less healing, when he fell sick:

I know not which is most profitable to me, health or
sickness, wealth or poverty, nor anything else in the world.
That discernment is beyond the power of men or angels,   and is hidden among the secrets of your Providence, which     I adore, but do not seek to fathom.

The same steel that secures your life against being destroyed secures your life also against being opened up and transformed by the holy power that life itself comes from.
