CHURCH NEWS February 3, 2008

There will be NO Bible Study with Paul Ashbrook tonight at First Baptist Church due to the Super Bowl. It will resume next Sunday (Feb.10th) at 6:00 pm. 

Emma Lea Christensen wishes to thank everyone for all the prayers, visits, cards, and calls in the death of her son Gary. 

Kay Webb wishes to thank everyone for the calls, cards and prayers during her surgery and recovery. She is doing quite well.                          

Deacons – meet Tuesday at 6:00 pm. The deacons going off the board are asked to come for the first ½ hour with their notebook ready to pass on. If you can’t be at the meeting, turn your notebook in before the meeting to Rosa or Phyllis.

Ash Wednesday is this Wed, Feb. 6th – we will have a meditative time of worship with communion, beginning at 7:00 pm.There will be no afternoon version. If you need a ride, please call the church by Wednesday noon and we will provide one.

We will be having a Lenten service for each week of Lent (6 weeks), Wed. nights, 7-8 p.m. For those not wanting to come out at night, after Ash Wednesday, there will be a Wed. afternoon Lenten service 1:15-2:15 at the church. These will be tied to the Sunday sermon with a part of our time in small group discussion for fellowship. However, ½ of our hour will be devoted to intercessory prayer, entering into the power of the Spirit in our midst. Small groups that are meeting are encouraged to join in this in place of their home group.

SESSION MEMBERS - the Session meeting will be after the Ash Wednesday Service, Feb. 6th, at 8:15.  This Session meeting will take the place of the regular meeting Feb.12.

Pastor Ken   will be taking a week’s vacation, Feb. 7-13 so he and Polly can go to Cleveland to move Polly’s Mother into assisted living.  Lance will preach next Sunday.
