HEAD USHER TRAINING: Memorial Parlor following worship today,
for all head ushers and those who would like to serve in this way, we will be having usher training.  We need more head ushers and we need to also have current head ushers there since there are some changes we'd like to implement.  This should last less than ½ hour.

NEXT SUNDAY - For the adult fall quarter, we will be using a book by John Ortberg, If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat. Using the familiar story of Peter, Ortberg covers important Biblical themes like:

• Walking on water means facing your fears and choosing not to let fear have the last word.
• Walking on water means discovering and embracing God’s unique calling in your life.
• Walking on water means experiencing the power of God to do something you would not be capable of doing on your own.

Of course, we will be drawing from many other Scriptures on fear, trust, knowing God’s will, and living in God’s power. We can get in a comfortable rut in our spiritual life. But often, following Jesus means stepping out on storm-tossed waters at Jesus’ call to come to Him. You don’t need to purchase a book, but many of you will, and it is well worth reading. The cost is $15. You may still order a book today by writing "Book" on the Friendship Register, though you may not have it for the first class.

CALLING ALL RINGERS!!!  Now That fall schedules are lining up, it is time to assess our lives to see if ringing handbells is an avenue of Christian service you would like to pursue.  We are beginning the process of calling all ringers from the near or distant past, and any persons who have expressed an interest in trying the art of ringing.  In our calls, we will be asking each person to express a preference on a practice day of the week and time of day for practice.  This will enable planners to choose the day and time which is workable for the largest number of ringers.  If you wish to be called, please contact the church office, 826-1290, or Marian McClanahan, 826-1386, or Dawn Larson, 826-4179.
Requirements are: Love of Christ, enjoyment of music and minimal knowledge of the rudiments of music reading – counting, note names, etc.

Body Life Meeting next Sunday, September 16th following the Worship Service in the Memorial Parlor.
MEMBERSHIP CLASS  - If you've found this to be your church home and would like to become a member, the pastor will be having a membership class beginning Sept. 23rd (a Sunday afternoon).  The second class is then tentatively planned for Oct. 7th.  Please let Pastor Ken know if you're interested – or if you're interested but these dates won't work.  You're welcome to attend just for information.  After the two classes you can decide upon membership.  You may sign-up on the friendship register.
