CHURCH NEWS June 24, 2007

It's time to start signing-up for our FUN POTLUCK PROGRESSIVE PICNIC July 8th.  We will carpool following the worship service, take a tour of Jim and Sandee Freese's orchard, have salad course there and then drive to Hidden Hills where Ron and Martha Thomas will provide hotdogs with the main course and dessert. We need you to sign-up on the Friendship Register if you plan to come and you will be assigned some food to bring.  After your name put PPP and the number in your family attending.  If you wish to ride the Blue Angel Van, put "Van" after your name.  You will also want to bring a lawn chair for yourself, if you have one.

Vacation Bible School is July 9-13, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon ages 5yrs to 5th grade.  Matthew and Tanya Hiller and family of Selah Children’s Puppet ministries from Oregon will be here again this year to put on our VBS. This year’s VBS theme is Ready, Set, Go for Jesus.
Ready refers to our personal relationship with God, understanding His forgiveness and grace.  Set, refers to going deep into God’s word and worship of Him.  Go, refers to going out and telling others about God. They will be doing drama skits, Bible readings, object lessons, face puppet skits, quiz games and a lot more puppets.  It should be lots of fun. Pre-registration helps our planning.  Registration blanks are on the table by the office.  Invite friends or kids you know in the neighbourhood.

The Presbytery of Central Washington is meeting here this Tuesday, June 26th 9:30-3:00.  You may want to attend the worship service which begins at 9:50.  You are welcome to attend as an observer all or part of the meeting.  Pastor Ken and elders Paul Freese and Lyle Caudill  are our delegates.  Many of you will be helping the deacons and women of the church serve lunch and refreshments.

CENTENNIAL-

Centennial Cups with a picture of our church are available in the narthex.  Suggested donation, $5.00.

A Time Capsule is being prepared for our celebration Aug. 26th. If you have ideas of what to include, please place them in the Centennial Suggestion Box on the table by the office.

There are Book Marks with all the Missions we have supported on the Welcome Center for you to take in honor of our Centennial.

Sign up for  a Pastoral Visit – As Ken mentioned in the newsletter, he and Polly would like to do some "just checking in" kind of visits this summer.  Each week we'll have available times at the Welcome Center with a sign-up sheet. We have just two requests:

  1. If you can have us come in the daytime, please do and  leave the evening slots for those who work during the day.
  2. No refreshments please. As much as we love  good food, we are constantly struggling to keep our weight down and if we have two or three  appointments a day with dessert at each one, we’ll explode!”

Do you know of a graduate whether high school or college that is part of our church family in some way?  Please let Lance know or the church office so we can honor them.  Thank you.

"Prayer Cards" which have been in the pew pockets are now on the table by the office. These can be used to get a prayer request to the pastor for the church's intercessory prayers Sunday morning.  After filling it our, give it to the usher before worship begins.
